Decommissioning, Petroglyphs, Landscapes and Sky

Haunting images from the inside of obsolete and aging power plants possess an eerie, harsh beauty. The tension between objective reality and heartfelt emotion captured by the artist is the essence of the photography of Jason Williams.

Through the unblinking Eye of Jason Williams we are brought into a magical place once populated by ancient peoples, now empty and remote. These petroglyphs inform his later, more recent photography that is set out in beautiful detail in Williams’ book of stunning images, Left Behind.

Williams’ earlier work is rooted in images that accentuate the fleeting impermanence of landscapes from the American South West.

Serene images of the South West draw upon the dynamic contrast between the sculpted, earth-bound form and the ever-changing sky.
